I am Me

"Just be yourself because there is no one better." I always tell that line to myself whenever I start to compare myself to someone else.  I am Jochelle Ranela Manzo Almanzor. The only child of Jocelyn and Ranel Almanzor.  I am fond of doing things like singing, playing the guitar and the piano. My hobbies are surfing the internet and staying connected with my friends, listening to music, travelling to different places with my mommy, biking with my mommy and playing basketball and badminton with my cousins. Yes, some other people have their characteristics in mutual. But, also of us I know has distinct characteristics that we can show those people who are so fond of comparing and so judgmental.

Yes, I believe that I am special in my own little way. For me, I am special whenever I sing and I can make everyone quiet. I feel that they love my voice that they will keep quiet just to hear my voice. I believe that my voice is beautiful because that's what my relatives and friends say. I inherit my talent from both of my parents. And I am so thankful to God that I have this kind of voice. I promise to use this talent in good deeds like I will try my best to join a choir in the nearest church in our home. And, I WILL SING NOT TO IMPRESS, BUT TO EXPRESS.

Because I have my strong points, of course, I also have my weaknesses and flaws but I promise to myself that I will always conquer them and don't let those negative things block my way to success. I know that I don't do these things perfectly, but I always assure all of you that all of those hardships are with my heart. My mother said that I have to be an optimistic person. So, I always make sure to look at the positive side of everything I do and to love the things that I will do. I know that someday, I will be a successful one because of that attitude.

I know that I am not as good as other singers but I know to myself that I am unique. Just like in music, there are so many types of it. Or in style of voices, all of us can have different voice quality than that of the others that can make you unique. I am Jochelle Ranela Manzo Almanzor saying I am me.

Thank God I Have Them

Dear God,

I wrote this letter to You because I know to myself that I am not that expressive about my feelings for my parents. And because of that, my parents always think that I don't appreciate the things that they had given me and the things that they had done and sacrificed for me. So I am thinking that through this letter, I can express it.

Most and foremost, I would like to thank You in every blessing You gave to me and to my parents. I am very grateful to You because you gave me such wonderful parents now. Without them, I will not be who I am today. Parents that are always been there for me through thick and thin, who lights my candle when I need guidance and enlightenment, who inspires me to do the things I wanted and needed to do, who understands my flaws and the lack of time for them, and who are making nights into days just to work for my sake. I truly understand why they are sometimes mad at me, and that's because, they just wanted me to take the right path in my life. I am very sorry because I raised my voice on them sometimes, and I know that's very painful to them. I know that I am not a perfect daughter. I sometimes become so disrespectful to them and I am so lazy to do some chores in our house that is supposed to be done by me. And because of that, I am very disappointed to myself because I can't even help them through it. I also feel bad when they are not appreciating my grades, but, I am wrong. They really appreciate it. I hate it when they compare me to others. But now, i realized that after that comparing, I am struggling now to be better than the person they are comparing me.

I know I had done many bad things to them. But, I hope that they will see the other side, or the positive things I did to them. Now that I am all grown up, I realized that my parents are the most important people in my life and no one or nothing could replace them. They are the ones who given me my beautiful name and voice. God, please bless my parents and make them healthy always. Please give them a longer patience to discipline me. Give them strength and courage in facing everyday's challenges. I hope that they will forgive in all of the sins I made to them. Continue guiding our family to the right path. Thank You God that I have them.

                                                                                                                                       Your daughter,
                                                                                                                                        Jochelle

Sweet Agony

Honestly, I don't have any regrets in my life now because whatever happened in the past, I enjoyed and learned something new from it. Hmmm. Oh Lord of Regrets! Please give me an idea to start with this blog.... At last! Maybe, just a little, I regret that I fell in love so easily. Yeah. Falling in love is easy as taking a sip of coffee but moving on is as hard as pushing a wall.  The more effort you exert, the more force will act upon you. Falling in love is like jumping off a building: Your brain tells you, "It's not a good idea" while your heart tells you, "you can fly!" Love is food. Once you get hooked with it's taste, it's hard to stop. It's good to share the food but it is so painful that the person you shared with didn't liked it or didn't even gave thanks to you as a response. But, you have to be ready in those situations when you decided to share that food.

Yes, I admit it. I am so in love with Superman. He is as funny as a barrel of monkeys. When I first saw him, it was like, "Boom!, Lab---dab---lab---lab." My heart always skips a beat especially when he starts talking to me. I am easy on the eyes. Hard on the heart. My love for him is as deep as the ocean. When I started loving him, I didn't realize that it was my last chance to escape from this sweet agony, and this last chance was walking out of my door. He's like a candle. When you are stuck in the darkness, he seems to be the candle that gives me the light I need into the darkness. And I felt comfortable whenever he's with you. My explanation why I loved him is as clear as mud.

Now, I realize that loving him is an opportunity in my life that knocked only once at my door. Love can give us heartaches that no one could ever heal. But, as what Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness." For me, this saying is interpreting that I should not go back to the dark past but instead, I should look forward to see the brighter future. The past can make us realize things that we didn't intend to learn. I know that I will treasure these bitter sweet memories of us. Even though I know that I should be friends again with him, this SWEET AGONY of mine would never be erased from me, forever.

A Day to Remember

All of us surely know The Carpenters. They are my idols because they are really great singers. I am fond of singing so that is my passion. If I would given a chance to go back in time, I would choose to talk with Karen and Richard Carpenters. I also like to have a collaboration with them and tell the whole world that they are totally awesome performers. They are my idols since I was twelve years old. My mother would always ask me to sing their songs. My mom is also fond of singing their songs especially the song, You. I heard their songs on the radio and I was really amazed with Karen's voice. Her voice was really a unique one. The melodies of their songs are so relaxing that I can forget my problems about hearing them.

I just wanted to ask Karen if she can sing a higher song because it was said that only D chords suits her voice. I also wanted her to teach me how to play the drums while singing. For Richard, I just wanted him to compose a song that also suit my voice. A song that also tells about the story of my life.

Even though I'm just imagining those, I am so grateful to meet them in my dreams and imaginations.

9 Stations in Cav Sci

In almost all places here in Earth, there are a lot of rules to be followed. As well as in our school. A lot of rules are implemented just to make sure that the students will be well-disciplined and to act like the future scientists of the world. But these rules are usually disobeyed by students because of the following nine things.

Firs Station, the school gate.

NO I.D NO ENTRY VIOLATION
LATE COMERS

Some students always forgot to bring their I.D with them. But there are these guards and school police who are always there to list their names in a sheet of paper and will be submitted to the concerned teacher. If you disobeyed that rule over and over again, you will be punished by the platoon leader during the flag ceremonies. This violation is commonly done by the students because they thought that the punishment is quite easy for them. Late comers are also punished by the platoon leader and they will have their flag ceremonies by themselves. They are also asked to write a letter explaining why they are late. If they already late for many times, a letter will be given to their parents with their affixed signature on it.

Second station, the guidance office and the principal's office.

This is where the teachers should sign in. Students should remain silent while walking because the principal is quite strict about the noisy ones. And if you are to meet the principal along the way or even the teachers, the students must greet them to show their respect for them.

Third, the pathway.

This is where you could see some students cleaning their respective areas. But some, they are disobeying the rule that all of the students should clean despite of their busy schedule in their studies. The advisers are the one who would gave punishments to those students. The punishment depends on the days they didn't clean.

Fourth, the laboratories and learning centers.

Some students didn't use those properly. In laboratories, some apparatuses are broken and they didn't even replace them. Some apparatuses are not yet been returned after they borrowed it. Some students also not clean those things properly and let those everywhere not even worrying about what will happen to those. In the learning centers, some students didn't return the books they borrowed. Some also litters around the faciility. Some didn't arrange the books properly in the shelves. Some would kept on being noisy even though they are in a library.

Fifth, the canteen.

This is where the hungry people resides. Some students are not responsible of their wastes. They only just think for themselves. Not even thinking that those wastes may harm the environment.

Sixth, clinic

This is where the actors and actresses reside. Some students would lie that they are sick even though they are not. Some just like stay there because it is an air-conditioned room and they just want to sleep there. They also might just want not to attend their classes.

Seventh, the court

Students play in the basketball court even with their school uniform instead of their P.E uniform. It is not required for students because of the dress-code rules.

Eight, the school grounds

Students should speak in English because it is in the policy.  And it is also called the ESC or the English Speaking Campaign. Most of the students were not able to follow this rule because they find difficulty in speaking the language that is not their mother tongue.

Ninth, classrooms

This is where the most of the sins are committed. One is bringing cellphones or any gadgets that are not that needed in the subject. It is prohibited because this may be an instrument for cheating for some. This may also disrupt the focus of the students to their studies. Second is cheating. Students can't resist to do so because some are doing it to have high grades. Third is doing their homeworks at school. Homeworks are needed to be signed by parents but because the students have a lot of works that they can't finish those works. But because homeworks are needed to be signed, some students copy the signatures of their parents just to make their assignments valid.

Ol 'bout Txting...

Technologies have grown fast these days. New models of cellphones are already released. Cellphones are devices which are used for communicating. Cellphones are of a big help nowadays because in just clicking our cellphones we may be in touch with our friends or loved ones who are far from us. But, the question is, can texting affect my knowledge in English? Let's see.

I am not fond of texting but I chat a lot. For me, it doesn't affect my knowledge in English because it will depend  in how I will apply the lessons in English in my life. Yes, I always use shortcuts like "Ty for Thank You. or GNSD for Good Night Sweet Dreams" but I use those shortcuts because I am too lazy to type the whole word. My friends also know the meaning of those so there is no need for me to type it whole. I also don't want to make it long for the receiver to read. As long as the idea of the message is there, for me, it is just alright. And when I'm in a hurry, I really need to use those shortcuts. So, it doesn't matter if you use those shortcuts as long as you know the real spelling and pronunciation of each word. But there are also disadvantages of those. Sometimes, we are having a bad time in remembering a spelling of each word.

So, all in all, all we have to do is to limit the use of those shortcut words for us to have a better grammar in English. We also need to read more books for us to broaden our knowledge, our grammar skills and also in vocabulary. We need to limit the use of our cellphones to focus more on our studies.

A Week of Happiness

"Knock! Knock!
Who's there?
SEMBREAK.
SEMBREAK who?
SEMBREAK like a diamond! ♫♫♫"

I saw this post on a particular page in Facebook. After reading this, I started thinking of what will happen or what will I do for SEMBREAK. The day before our SEMBREAK, I felt excitement because I will be able to have long hours of sleep and I will have time to bond with my family. Lonely because I will not see my beloved classmates. And nervous because of my grades. I enjoyed every hour, every minute and every second being with my classmates as if we will not meet again.

My whole SEMBREAK only revolved around medicines, nebulizer, bed, food, taking care of my sick grandmother, cleaning our house, movie marathons, selfies, facebook, twitter, tumblr and many more. Cough, asthma and colds welcomed me at the very beginning of the SEMBREAK. It seems that they missed me so much after many years of not visiting me. My mom is worried that I will have my asthma back so she immediately took me to my doctor and had my check-up there. The doctor only gave me medicines. I helped in taking care of my grandmother who is from the hospital confined for almost two months. Even though I was sick, I helped my mother. And because of my grandmother, our house was fulled with my cousins and aunties and I need to maintain the cleanliness of our house for our health. My cousins and I just watched movies like Safe Haven, Warm Bodies, Insidious, Bed Time Stories and many more. We also cooked food. I helped in arranging flowers for the tomb of my grandfather. I also helped in cleaning and painting the grave.

All in all, I really enjoyed the SEMBREAK because I had a fun time with my relatives.  I realized that being with my cousins is a lot happier than being with some of my classmates because I know that no one will harm me when I'm in home. I wish that I will have more time with them next time. Cause I know that there's no safer place for me than here in home.
